Tonight our community had it's annual tree lighting ceremony. Around 5:30 this evening we, and several of our friends that live nearby, met at our house and then walked over to the park where the ceremony was held. From the time we arrived until about 6:00 we enjoyed hot cocoa, cookies, popcorn and a few magic tricks. At 6 p.m. Santa arrived on a fire truck - complete with horns honking and lights flashing (honestly, I think the fire truck was Camden's favorite part). Just after Santa made his entrance we started the countdown and then the big tree in the center of the park came to life with hundreds of twinkling lights.
After the tree lighting we did a quick photo with Santa. Camden shared his space in Santa's lap with his super-best friend Amanda. Her mom and I agree that this picture will be perfect for the "photo montage" that will play during the reception at their wedding. :o)
It's a little blurry b/c we took it with our phone. Kristina had her camera...when she sends me copies I'll post some better pics...
It wasn't anything spectacular when compared to the giant Festival of Lights in Omaha or the WRAL Tower Lighting in Raleigh, but it was fun for us...and the only traffic we had to fight when leaving were the strollers that had been parked along the edge of the park. :o)
